Ruissalo Foundation Visit to Finnish-American Village

Ruissalo Foundation management from Turku visited the Finnish-American Village in Lake Worth, Florida, a few weeks ago. The functions of the Village were presented by Executive Director Dan Benson, and Katja Pukkila, Assisted Living Manager. Maija Toukolehto spoke about the operations of the nursing home. The interest in the visit was mutual. Lunch was of course served at Annan Maja.

Ruissalo Foundation is a Finnish non-profit association founded in 1993. Its primary mission is to develop senior housing, provide rental housing and provide care services for the elderly. The aim of the foundation is to create high-quality living environments for the elderly, where they can live independently and receive the care and services they need.

To date, the Ruissalo Foundation has developed and built six senior service apartments with nearly 800 apartments in different parts of Finland, including Helsinki, Turku and Rauma. In addition, they designed and built a geriatric hospital in Turku that offers temporary hospital care and extended rehabilitation services for the elderly.
