The Homey Halls of Finnish-American Rest Home…
This is a blip into the beauty of the homey halls that guide residents and guests up and down the halls to their rooms at the Finnish-American Village Assisted Living Facility and the Skilled Nursing Facility. With every piece as beautiful than the last and the next, many pieces were donated to the facility by their artists or acquired over time (we have been here 50 years now!).
Over the past few weeks, a wonderfully fabulous volunteer Tarja Ettanen painstakingly coordinated a reinvigoration of the halls, matching resident personalities with specific pieces, highlighting previously more hidden treasures, and creating an even more beautiful environment for our residents and guests. It is a stunning labor of love and our heartfelt thanks go to her for her time, effort, care, and smile!
One particular piece is one of her favorites: painted in ‘73 by E. Ukkonen, the trees and sky are a lovely backdrop to the building and bridge over the flowing river.
There are so many hours of time and skill put into the artwork, woven pieces, and “knick-knacks,” and now they’ve been highlighted even so much more with the help of Tarja! She says, “I’m not finished yet!”
